JOB TITLE: Forklift Operator

JOB GRADE: Grade 5
GRADE RANGE: $19.96-$21.82 (+$0.35 cold room premium) /hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a forklift operators certificate.
- Possess ability to work shift work, including nights and weekends.
- Knowledge of lift trucks and proper driving procedures.
- Ability to lift/carry approximately 20 kilograms.
- Possess strong written, oral and mathematical skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and get along well with others.
- Be self-motivated, observant with good initiative and a positive attitude.
- Have the desire to be cross-trained in other functions.
- Knowledge of WMS and experience operating forklifts would be considered an asset.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Drive in a defensive manner under "Total Trax" guidelines to prevent product/equipment damage or injury.
- Must observe, follow and respect all site safety rules.
- Follow safe driving practices; including but not limited to interaction with lift truck traffic and pedestrians.
- Always conduct activities to ensure own safety and the safety of others.
- Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining 5S within work area.
- Communicate any changes and issues to other operators and supervision.
- Maintain all required documentation and check sheets.
- Ensure departmental targets are met by following standard work, understanding and supporting departmental KPI's.
- Must follow "Good Manufacturing Practices" (GMP's) as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Must follow the Code of Conduct and the Safe and Respectful Work Environment policy.
- Complete vehicle operator's checklist for lift truck to ensure lift truck is safe to operate.
- Operate various types of lift trucks, including stand up reach trucks throughout the warehouse.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by foreman/supervisor
